To be a strong fit for the  Human Resources Generalist opportunity, you will have:    
  • 3-5 years of progressive human resources experience in a generalist role Quick question for you - click here
  • Strong computer and HRIS systems experience including MS Office Suite applications (intermediate Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.); payroll systems, UltiPro / UKG Pro highly preferred; database management and record keeping.  Experience with a system implementation(s) is an advantage  Quick question for you - click here
  • A foundation and strong knowledge in multiple functional areas of Human Resources, including payroll, benefits programs, employee engagement and exposure to full-cycle recruiting
  • General knowledge of employment laws and practices

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, as  Human Resources Generalist, you will provide HR support in our corporate offices and 19 Wurth Louis branches primarily located in the Pacific Northwest and the South. Your responsibilities will include payroll backup, local compensation and benefits administration, employee relations / performance management, recruiting, safety and other compliance, worker’s compensation case management, investigations, reporting and more. Your role will be tactical, such as maintaining records and reporting, but also strategic, including helping identify and drive process and system improvements. More about the role
In addition to the responsibilities under The Role section, your specific responsibilities will be to:
  • Support employee-oriented company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, and high performance
  • Backup and perform payroll activities as necessary to process bi-weekly payroll, including maintaining related records, voluntary deduction reports, processing involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments, and reporting
  • Maintain payroll and related records recording the accumulation and use of PTO and miscellaneous leaves of absence
  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations
  • Manage the recruitment process for exempt, nonexempt and temporary employees and interns using the standard recruiting and hiring practices and procedures necessary to recruit and hire a superior workforce (e.g. place ads, review resumes, interview, handle background checks, physicals, drug screens and testing processes, etc.)
  • Assist with the development of employee relations company policies
  • Support employee relations practices as necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation
  • Conduct investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth
  • Advise managers and supervisors about the steps in the progressive discipline system; assist branch management in handling corrective actions for local employees
  • Support company health and safety programs, including tracking and posting OSHA-required data and filing reports
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze data, making recommendations for continuous improvement in employee attraction and retention
  • Conduct annual wage analysis; rewrite job descriptions as needed; monitor performance appraisal program
  • Process Worker’s Compensation claims, assist management in accident investigations and assist in claims management.
